According to a March 1999 review, announcements of major investment fund raisings by the following:
- Development Australia Fund (a $300 million fund (DAF II) from the superannuation sector to invest in small and medium sized enterprises). DAF's original fund, DAF I, was launched in 1995, and now has total assets of $500 million of which $160 million is invested as venture capital.
- Technology Venture Partners ($45 million for investment in information technology ventures) and
- Macquarie Direct Investment
- County Investment Management Limited, as subsidiary of the National Australia Bank, is exploring the potential of a proposed Medical Research Investment Fund which would match funding provided by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) for pre-commercial research.
